Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturiser Review

This pharmacy brand moisturiser is our budget go-to for glowing skin

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturiser Review

Few things look as manicured as an aesthetically pleasing lineup of skincare products. The hack though, is knowing when to go cheap. Pharmacy skincare labels often take a back seat to more branded products because of their less glamorous appeal. But whenever I glimpse a friend’s skincare haul, there’s always one brand that stays true: Cetaphil.

After discovering and then going to town on a housemate’s Cetaphil ‘Daily Facial Moisturiser’, I was converted. And when it comes to the subject of moisturisers, I am somewhat of an authority. My skin type is desert dry. It doesn’t help that I live in a dry climate, and I’ve tried a bunch of brands in my goal of attaining baby-soft skin. Cetaphil’s moisturiser has been with me for years now – it’s suitable for all skin types (including sensitive), and the friendly price tag is too good to say no to.

TL;DR

First, A Bit More About Daily Moisturisers

What are daily moisturisers

Daily moisturisers are an essential part of the daytime skincare routine. They’re lightweight compared to overnight masks or moisturisers, and can be used in conjunction with other products. They’re also essential prep for your makeup routine, as they enable your skin to absorb and hold onto makeup better. They’re a quick step – there’s no leave-on or wash-off requirement, and they ensure that skin is bright and plump all-day long.

How can daily moisturisers benefit me

Daily moisturisers have a number of benefits for all skin types. They hydrate, which defends skin against external irritants like pollution. Moisturisers are also anti-ageing because of the level of water they promote in the skin. This helps decrease the appearance and development of fine lines and wrinkles.  They’re an anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory, which soothes and calms skin. This is especially useful after showering, as they help cool down skin.

Where daily moisturisers fit in your skincare routine

Daily moisturisers are the fourth step in a full-proof daytime skincare routine. Exfoliating helps to clear away dead skin, and cleansers buff away any impurities. Afterwards, using a potent serum with ingredients like vitamins and fatty acids will nourish and protect skin. Now is when daily moisturisers come in. Finish up with a face oil to lock in your moisturiser, and an SPF to shield against sun damage.

  1. Exfoliate
  2. Cleanse
  3. Apply Serum
  4. Apply daily moisturiser
  5. Apply face oil
  6. Apply SPF

Our Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturiser Review

With so many facial moisturisers to choose from on the market today, it can be hard to determine which one is best for your skin. Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Moisturiser is a popular choice and here we lay out some of its pros and cons.

On the plus side, this product contains SPF 15, which helps protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. It also helps prevent dehydration without causing greasiness or clogging pores. Additionally, it is non-comedogenic, meaning that it won’t cause breakouts or irritate already sensitive skin.

Some drawbacks however, are the small ingredients list which may not provide enough beneficial oils or active ingredients for those with other skin concerns.
